An overtime winner with 3:18 left was enough to give the Fife Flyers the two-point win in Cardiff this Wednesday night.
The Flyers had an excellent opening period, with goals from Joe Basaraba and then former Devil Paul Crowder putting them 2-0 inside 20 minutes.
Cardiff came back into the game in period two, Joey Martin getting them on the board with 24 minutes gone, and then 24 seconds later it was tied thanks to Bryce Reddick. However the Devils couldn’t hold that lead and were again behind when Mike Cazzola restoring the Flyers’ lead at 35:01.
Again the Devils fought back, needing only 78 seconds to tie things up in the third period as Layne Ulmer picked up a rebound to slot home. And Again the Flyers re-took, this time Danick Gauthier scoring with just under ten minutes to play. Matthew Myers tied the game up at four apiece when he tipped in a shot from Mark Richardson three minutes later.
Just 1:42 into overtime, Crowder skated through the Devils defence and although he didn’t score, Brett Bulmer picked up the rebound and fired it into a wide-open net to give the Flyers the 5-4 overtime win.
