Five Elite Ice Hockey League officials have been selected by the International Ice Hockey Federation to officiate at this weekend’s Continental Cup Semi-Finals.
Pavel Halas will be heading to Lyon for Group D as hosts Lions welcome Belarusian side HK Gomel, Latvians Kurdbads Riga, and Kazakh team Arlan Kokshetau. “I am really looking forward to it. It is a great honour being selected to referee in the Continental Cup and represent Great Britain in an international tournament,” said the referee. “It will be a fantastic experience, especially when all games are supervised by a certified IIHF supervisor. I am really looking forward to receiving instant feedback on my performance and getting new ideas on improving some key areas of my game, such as positioning and game management.”
He continued: “All the other referees taking part are from different countries, so it will be great to work with different styles of officiating and learning what challenges referees face in different leagues and how they overcome these. Overall, it will be a tremendous experience and I look forward to returning to the UK as a better official.”
Meanwhile Nathan Carmichael, Andy Cook, Robert Pullar and Scott Rodger will all be working at the competition’s Group E event in Belfast.
Congratulations to all selected!
