Belfast Giants’ goalie Tyler Beskorowany has been chosen as Week 10’s Elite League ‘Player of the Week’!
The Giants’ netminder played a key role in his side’s two big road wins, as the Giants shutout Nottingham Panthers 4-0 in Nottingham before going on to win 8-1 in Cardiff. Over the weekend, Beskorowany faced 45 shots and turned away 97.78% of them.
“It was really good,” started Beskorowany as he reflected on the weekend. “I think I played well, and for the entire team it was a ‘statement weekend’ for us going into Nottingham and Cardiff. We outscored them 12-1 this weekend, and it was really good for the teams to get those wins”.
“In Nottingham it did feel a little bittersweet,” he confessed. “I felt bad that it was their teddy bear toss event, but at the same time I’ll take a shutout when I can!”
The Giants play European hockey this weekend as they host the Continental Cup Semi-Final Group Stage, and the team is in confident spirits. “It’s definitely good for us to be on a hot streak at the moment going into the Continental Cup. We’ll be facing teams we haven’t played yet, so we don’t really have much to go off or base off of. But we have to play the way we have been, because we’ve been successful playing our own game and not relying on the other teams.”
Beskorowany follows fellow Giant Blair Riley who was Player of Week 9.
