Fresh from hosting the Semi-Final stage of this year’s Continental Cup, the International Ice Hockey Federation has today confirmed that the Belfast Giants will host the Final Round in January at the SSE Arena in Belfast.
The Giants will therefore have home comforts as they attempt to win the Continental Cup for the first time, and try to become only the second team from the Elite League to do so after Nottingham Panthers lifted the trophy in the 2016/17 season. Teams from the Elite League have made the final round for the last three seasons straight.
The 17-team tournament’s final four also includes: Kazakh champions Arlan Kokshetau, Polish runners-up GKS Katowice, and HK Gomel from Belarus. It’s the first time that the Continental Cup Final will be hosted in the UK, which will run over 11 to 13 January 2019.
