Cardiff Devils 6-2 Coventry Blaze
Cardiff Devils went top of the league table thanks to a four-goal home win over Coventry Blaze. How long they’ll stay there for is out of their hands for now, with Belfast in action tomorrow night.
A quick start from the hosts saw them up by two inside four minutes as Drew Schiestel scored both a powerplay and shorthanded marker to put the Devils in control. Ben Lake pulled it back to 2-1 at 7:09, but with 2:42 left in the period Layne Ulmer had the home side back two ahead. However the Blaze then collapsed somewhat before the period was out, Charles Linglet scoring 19 seconds later, and Mike Hedden at 18:13 to put the Devils 5-1 ahead after 20 minutes.
With 3:52 left in the game Alex Forbes brought the game back to 5-2, but the four-goal win was completed with Joey Haddad’s goal at 58:33.
