Belfast Giants 5-1 MK Lightning

24 hours after being knocked off top spot in the league, Belfast Giants went back to the head of the table with a routine win over MK Lightning.

The hosts were a goal up inside four minutes through Lewis Hook, who was then a second assist on Blair Riley’s effort at 15:40 which put the Giants into a two goal advantage.

Riley struck again with 8:30 gone in the middle period, and just before the 33 minute mark Darcy Murphy made it 4-0 and effectively had the game out of MK’s reach. Cole Shudra bagged the visitors’ only goal of the night at 49:47, before Riley made it a hat-trick with a shorthanded effort 5:23 from the end.
