Clan with chance to chase down Top 4

January 24, 2019 8:20 am

Glasgow Clan head in to Milton Keynes tonight hopeful of using their games in hand to both reduce the gap to Fife above them, and put some more daylight between themselves and the teams below. A win for the Glasgow side would see them go three points ahead of Dundee, and cut the gap to Fife to a point, still having played less matches than those teams.

The Lightning were unlucky to get nothing out of their series with Sheffield last weekend, but have unfortunately slipped back to being some 14 points adrift of the playoff places. They hope to turn around a run of six straight losses, while the Clan’s record coming in to tonight is a pair of wins. On the road however they’ve struggled for consistency, being a .500 side over the last four games.

Robbie Baillargeon has a point, at least, in his last five games (six in total); while the Clan have Brendan Connolly in excellent form – 11 points in his seven games since the turn of the year.

Obviously last time we played Glasgow we were not at our best. This time, we expect to be ready to play from the start. I think they have some of the best skating forwards in the league. We need to slow them down through the neutral zone and finish our checks. We need to do a better job of getting in front of the net and taking away the goalies eyes. The past couple of weeks we’ve made it easy on the opposing goalie. We’re really looking forward to playing at home again in front of our fans.” – Tim Wallace (Player-Coach, MK Lightning)
