There’s more than just Scottish pride on the line when Glasgow welcome Dundee to the Braehead Arena tonight.
Pete Russell’s side need just a point to reclaim the Gardiner Conference title, while a win will put them clear in third place in the league overall. Dundee, who are a point clear in the playoff places, are playing their game in hand over Manchester immediately below them – a win would open up a three-point gap and also end a four-game losing streak, although in those losses they’ve taken a point in three of them.
Clan have won all of the meetings between these sides this season, bar the opening Challenge Cup game in September – it’s also been almost a year since Dundee were able to win in Glasgow. Clan have Guillaume Doucet with three goals in as many games, while for the Stars Charles Corcoran has put up at least a point over a six-game stretch.
“It’s not getting any easier for us, the games are all coming very fast at the moment. As long as we can keep staying together, battling, and get some bodies back it will help a lot. We have to keep finding a way to get speed through the neutral zone, and taking care of our own end.” – Pete Russell (Head Coach, Glasgow Clan)
“We’re playing a team that’s been playing a lot of hockey recently. We showed at home on Sunday that we could play with them, which wasn’t the case in the previous games. If we bring that game again, there’s no reason why we can’t come away with the points. We have to tighten up defensively a bit more, though.” – Omar Pacha (Head Coach, Dundee Stars)
