Great Britain are straight back on the ice after their disappointing defeat to Denmark yesterday, as they face the United States at 1515 this afternoon.
All of Team GB skated this morning in Košice ahead of the game.
“Yesterday against Denmark was the most frustrating game we’ve played so far. We have to accept that the performance we put in was not acceptable, but we can move on quickly from this. The important thing is to not dwell on it, put it to the back of our minds, and be ready for a big game today.“ – Jonathan Phillips (Captain, Great Britain)
America boast a roster with all bar two players coming form the NHL. Of the two that aren’t, forward Jack Hughes is predicted to go either first or second in this summer’s draft and turned 18 yesterday; while Adam Fox was drafted #66 in 2016. Team USA lost their opening game against Slovakia but bounced back with a convincing 7-1 win against France, and then a 3-2 OT win against Finland.
“We took some big steps against Finland, and are getting better each day. In this type of tournament where is so short, that’s the most important thing to keep improving. We have to stay with the same focus and mentality.” – Johnny Gaudreau (Forward, USA)
