Young forward Owen Griffiths will wear Guildford Flames colours next season, after the Surrey side added him to their roster this afternoon.
Griffiths, 22, played last season for Milton Keynes for his first full season in the Elite League, after two years with Peterborough Phantoms in the second tier. He recorded 20 points in 62 games for the Lightning.
“I’ve been speaking with Paul over the last few summers,” said Griffiths, “and found the timing this upcoming season to be perfect. I’m really excited to develop on from last season and play with some great players. Playing against Guilford was never fun but I’m sure playing for them will be. I can’t wait to get started.”
“This was a great opportunity for us to get another quality, good skating young British player on our roster,” added Head Coach Paul Dixon. “Milton Keynes as a club last year had a lot of nights when injuries depleted their roster, but Owen benefited from that situation by getting a lot of quality ice time and playing in all kinds of roles and in higher leverage situations.”
“He really came along, and we think he can help us add some more depth to our forward units to hopefully help us be a better team this season. Owen is a good start to the contingent of players we will have joining us for the first time this season and we are excited to have him on our side of the ice when the puck drops to start the new schedule.”
