Brendan Connolly will line up in Steelers colours next season, with the Sheffield side announcing his arrival this morning.
Hitting 65 points for Glasgow Clan in 2018/19 , and 73 points for Belfast Giants the season before, Connolly heads to Yorkshire with impressive returns from his two seasons in the Elite League so far.
“Brendan is a guy who has proven that he can really produce at this level. The intangibles he brings on a nightly basis is what I love most about his game. He plays on the edge and is super competitive,” said Head Coach Aaron Fox. “He’s one of those guys that really cares about winning and will do whatever is asked of him to achieve that. I think playing with that emotion and energy is something this team lacked last year. He leaves everything on the ice and I think our fans will fall in love with that part of his game. He can play multiple positions and also had some good chemistry with (Marc-Andre) Vallerand back in Greenville a few years ago, they were one and two in scoring that season.”
Before arriving in the EIHL, Connolly had spells in the EBEL, DEL2, and Danish top flight. “Sheffield was always on my radar, and the way Aaron told me of his plans for the team excited me. He explained my role and what he expected, I liked that he saw me as an influential player,” said the forward. “I bring energy and passion I guess. I’m an in your face type of player. I can play in all situations but throughout my career I’ve been considered a goal scorer.”
