Belfast Giants have replaced starting netmidner Tyler Beskorowany with former Fife Flyers’ goalie Shane Owen.
Beskorowany left earlier this month for Banská Bystrica in Slovakia, leaving Head Coach Adam Keefe with a big hole to fill. He’s brought in a player that last season finished the campaign with a save percentage of 91.2% – the third highest in the Elite League. Owen also iced in all 60 of the Flyers’ league games – only Ben Bowns in Cardiff matched him for matches played.
“I am excited to get started in Belfast and play in the Champions Hockey League with the Giants. I spoke to Adam Keefe and I am looking forward to training camp in August that will set us up well for the season,” said the goalie, who has also iced in Sweden & Poland. “As long as I put the work in and get prepared to play, I want to go out and give my team a chance to win on every night. Having played against the Giants for a number of years – I am well aware of how great the city of Belfast is and how passionate the fans are.”
