Cardiff Devils confirmed five players for their 2019/20 roster during a special Facebook live this evening.
Former Belfast Giant Blair Riley was, after months of speculation, confirmed as joining the Welsh side. The 33-year-old has 182 points in 165 Elite League games over his three seasons in Belfast, where he won two Challenge Cups and a league title.
Also new at the Viola Arena next season will be Finnish forward Masi Marjamäki. Aged 34, the winger from Pori spent nine season’s in his home country’s top flight clicking up 142 points in 302 regular season matches. He then joined Finnish KHL outfit Jokerit in the KHL for a season and a half, before last year moving to the Czech Republic to ice for Piráti Chomutov. While Chomutov were relegated, he put up 16 points in 45 games.
The Devils confirmed the re-signings of Matthew Myers, Stephen Dixon, and Matt Pope during the video session. Myers will be given a testimonial this season – last campaign he clocked up his 900th EIHL game. Dixon returns for his second season after joining from the DEL last off-season. The 33-year-old forward 45 points in the 2018/19 regular season in which he played every game, meanwhile Matt Pope will play his third in Wales (101 points in 112 regular season games).
