After much off-season speculation, forward Ben Davies has re-signed in Guildford and will stay with the Flames for a third straight season.
Most famous recently for scoring the overtime winner that kept Great Britain at the top level of world ice hockey, 28-year-old Davies scored 15 goals and assisted on 18 others in last year’s Elite League regular season. He also put up seven points as the Flames made it all the way to the Challenge Cup final.
“I’m really excited to be back with the Flames this season!” said Davies. “I hope we can build on the successful two years we’ve had in the EIHL and bring some trophies to the club. I’ve enjoyed my time with Guildford Flames so far. We have a great bunch of players so I’m excited to get back to work with all the boys and meet any new players come August time.”
“Ben obviously had quite a finish to his season by scoring one of the biggest goals in GB history, but he also put together a terrific season for us ahead of that,” explained Head Coach Paul Dixon. “He is a very tenacious, hard-working player, with good speed, and can play in a lot of different situations at both ends of the rink. We are looking forward to getting him back into our group for the season, and hopefully he can continue on right where he left off in the Spring.”
