Giants add Pelech

After four seasons split between Austria and Germany, defenseman Matt Pelech will be heading to Northern Ireland after Belfast Giants announced him as their latest off-season capture.

Spells in Graz and Villach, and Schwenningen and Ingolstadt. have seen the 31-year-old rack up 88 games in the EBEL and 99 in the DEL over the last four years – scoring 28 and 29 points respectively. Before heading to Europe, Pelech played in 425 AHL games, after being drafted #26 overall by Calgary Flames in 2005 – he has 13 NHL games to his name.

“Matt is a natural leader who is excited to be a part of the defence of the Elite League and Challenge Cup championships,” said Head Coach Adam Keefe. “He will bring quality and toughness to our blueline as well as experience to the locker room. Giants fans are going to love watching Matt in action.”
