Former EBEL Champion Aaron Brocklehurst completes Sheffield Steelers’ defensive roster for the upcoming season.
The 34-year-old Canadian will move to Sheffield after a season in Linz. During his four seasons in the EBEL with Fehérvár, two years in Vienna, and Linz, the defenseman played in 200 regular season gamers, returning 102 points. He has also had just over three spells in Germany, two years in Finland’s Liiga, and played in 15 Champions Hockey League matches during his time with Ingolstadt and Vienna.
“Aaron is a very skilled two-way defenseman that skates really well and plays the game the right way. He seems to let the game come to him always making good smart decisions and can also play against other team’s top players,” said Head Coach Aaron Fox. “He led his team in playoff scoring for a defenseman the year they won the Championship in Vienna, and think his character will be a huge positive to our Room. With this signing I think we have six defenseman that can match up against any other six in this league. We will try a few different Combinations in practice but think this will allow us to keep Benny (Ben O’Connor) and Davey (Phillips) together to start the year as well and we can give Ben some matchups where he can play the style of game which suits him.”
