32-year-old Mathieu Roy will be back in the Elite League next season – but not in Steelers’ orange.
The forward has signed for Glasgow Clan after a year out of the game, but comes in with some pedigree – 225 points at EIHL level in 203 regular season games over his four-year stint in Sheffield.
Before heading to Yorkshire, the Canadian notched 337 points in 446 ECHL games, and also received five AHL call-ups. He was an EIHL League champion in 2016, and won the playoffs the following season.
“Mathieu has made a huge name for himself in British hockey, has won championships and will find the net for our club in the upcoming season,” confirmed Clan Head Coach Zack Fitzgerald. “He is a natural winner and goalscorer. The experience he will bring to the roster will be invaluable and will push us on to the next level. “He is coming to the team with real appetite and will do what it takes to win.”
