Following the decision to include 'Taxi Squad' members into the full Elite Series roster, Sheffield Head Coach Aaron Fox has moved quickly to add 21-year-old Bálint Pádkozdi to the Steelers.
Pádkozdi was born in Budapest but played four seasons at the Okanagan Hockey Academy in Swindon, therefore is classed as British-trained under Elite League rules.
"When the rule changed today from a local taxi squad to them now being part of a 23 man roster that’s eligible to play right away I started to do some work on the remaining players left in the draft and Balint was a guy who looked interesting," revealed Fox. "I had heard from numerous people that Balint is a really good kid who works extremely hard and has some offensive upside.
"He’s spent some time in NA and is currently playing for Swindon in the Spring Cup. I Talked to him today before making the selection and he sounds excited to come in and compete for some ice time. I think it’s a great opportunity for him and look forward to having him for the series."
