Coventry's preparations for the 2021 Elite Series have continued this morning with the announcement of netminder Shane Owen.
The Canadian stopper joins the Blaze after spending last season Belfast, and was also a Fife Flyer for two seasons in 2016/17 and 2018/19. The 30-year-old goalie has played 155 Elite League games and stopped 91.5% of the shots he's faced, with another 21 cup games for a similar save percentage. In between his two spells with Fife, Owen spent half a season in Karlskoga in the Allsvenskan and was a playoff runner-up in Poland with Katowice. He has 79 wins to his name in league action in the EIHL in 155 games.
"We looked at different options for this series, but kept coming back to Shane," explained Head Coach Danny Stewart. "He is a great goaltender that has had a lot of success in Fife and Belfast. He gives you a chance every night and that’s what you need. He will have great support from Jordan Hedley who will get his fair share of starts, and Will Bray should he need a night off."
