Sheffield have strengthened their roster for the 2021 Elite Series with two signings from Denmark's Metal Ligaen.
Netminder John Muse and defenseman Jeremy Beaudry will both join from the Rødovre Mighty Bulls in Denmark where they were signed this season.
32-year-old Muse signed in Denmark in January but did not ice in a competitive game. He spent 2019/20 in China, playing 33 games for KRS-BSU Beijing in the Russian VHL, and made one start for Kunlun Red Star in the KHL. Prior to this, he's alternated between the AHL and ECHL, averaging over 90% of shots saved in both in almost 200 and 100 games respectively.
Beaudry, 27, played five games in Amiens (seven points) before switching to Denmark at the end of January, for whom he put up six points in nine games. “Jeremy is a two-way defenceman, who plays on both sides of the puck and plays in all situations. He spent the season between France and Denmark and averaged a point per game as a defenceman.” said Head Coach Aaron Fox. “He is a key powerplay contributor and isn't not afraid to mix it up. I’m pleased that he is excited to come in and finish off the year with an opportunity to win something."
On Muse, Fox added: "John is a veteran goalie with a very strong North American career playing 184 American league games with a save .914 sv% and a career 93-63-11 record. In addition, he also played 100 ECHL games with a save percentage of .908 and a career 53-33-14 record.
"John plays a very technical game and reads the play extremely well. I think this a great opportunity to get him into Sheffield and help us achieve our goals.
"The goaltending position was always going to be an extremely tough decision. I felt we needed to go with someone who had played some competitive hockey this year and was already match-fit. When John became available I definitely thought he would be a good fit and give us a chance to win every night."
