Coventry Blaze Head Coach Danny Stewart confirmed in his press conference on Thursday afternoon that forward Luke Ferrara will start for the Blaze in Friday's game against the Manchester Storm.
Ferrara, 27, spent the latter half of this season in Poland. His Krakow side reached the playoff finals after a disappointing season, but their season ended with a finals defeat to Jastrzebie. He last iced for Cracovia in 31 March.
With the Blaze in 2019/20, Ferrara led the Elite League for goals over the season, scoring 33. He assisted on 21 others to finish the campaign with 54 points before the COVID-19 pandemic saw the season end prematurely.
"It's a big boost, not just with the quality that Luke brings but he is a presence in the room and one of our leaders," explained Stewart. "He'll inject some energy into our room. He and Janne Laakkonen had a great partnership on that top line last season, so not only will we have a little bit more going forward but it'll also make Janne better, too."
