Elite Series teams honouring Azaylia Cain's bravery this weekend
Each of the four teams, and game officials, will wear special stickers on their helmets
The Coventry Blaze and Nottingham Panthers will honour the bravery of Nuneaton baby Azaylia Cain with a minute's stick tap ahead of their Elite Series game on Saturday.
Both teams will line-up on their respective blue lines ahead of the game to applaud the eight-month-old and show their support for parents Safiyya Vorajee and Ashley Cain.
Azaylia Cain, who is battling a rare form of progressive terminal cancer, has captured the hearts of the nation with thousands of people coming out of their homes to clap the little girl on Tuesday night. Additionally, thousands of nominations have been made for Azaylia to receive one of the Pride of Britain awards for her bravery. A number of buildings around the UK, including the Whittle Arch in Coventry, have been lit up orange to raise awareness of acute myeloid leukaemia, which Azaylia was diagnosed with when she was just eight weeks old.
Earlier this month, Ashley and Safiyya raised over £1.4 million to take their daughter to Singapore for specialist cancer treatment, but sadly due to the rareness of the form of cancer, and Azaylia's poorliness, the treatment was not possible.
The Blaze and Panthers' players and the games officials will wear an orange ribbon with Azaylia’s name printed on their helmets to show their incredible respect for the youngster and the family. On Sunday, Manchester Storm and Sheffield Steelers have also asked to show their support by wearing the stickers for their fixture.
