The Nottingham Panthers came from behind to win in overtime for the second game running as they recorded a 4-3 overtime win against the Coventry Blaze on Sunday afternoon.
With no goals through the first half of the opening period, things burst into life just past the 14-minute mark. Luke Ferrars crashed home a slapshot on the powerplay to put Coventry ahead at 14:23, only for Christophe Boivin to tap home Kevin Domingue's feed 34 seconds later and tie the scores. The Blaze were again efficient on the powerplay, however, and regained the lead with 36 seconds left in the period through Mike Hammond.
Ollie Betteridge tied the scores 4:31 into period two, but the Blaze were ahead before the next break with a wonderful goal - Mike Hammond deceiving most of the Motorpoint Arena when he picked out David Clements instead of Tristan Keck, and the Blaze defensemen slotted home from the far post.
The Panthers pushed for an equaliser in the third but kept running into the Wall of Shane Owen. That was until 56:06 when Kevin Domingue's snipe flew into the net to tie things again.
Into overtime and it was the Panthers who got the win - a poor Blaze line change leaving Mark Matheson all alone to slot home at 61:37.
