Cardiff Devils completed a four-point weekend with a narrow win over the Steelers in Sheffield.
After a scoreless opening period, the was the Devils who took the lead in the second – Masi Marjamaki’s initial shot saved by Tomáš Duba, but Joey Haddad then found a second rebound to give Cardiff the lead at 28:36. That advantage held until 35:29 – Marc-Olivier Vallerand stole the puck from Gleason Fournier on the Steelers’ blue-line, and raced away to beat Ben Bowns with a smart move, tying the game shorthanded.
Period three saw the Devils re-gain the lead only 29 seconds in, Sam Jardine's shot from the blueline going past Duba into the net - the goal given after a video review for goalie interference. Nikolai Lemtyugov tied it for Sheffield less than three minutes later, but just over ten thereafter Joey Haddad was credited with the game's winning goal after a deflected shot.
