Offside review a first in British ice hockey

Check out the close-up angles

There was an historical moment during Wednesday night's Semi-Final Second Leg game between the Nottingham Panthers and Coventry Blaze.

Coventry scored at 53:22, but the play was reviewed for a potential offside in the build-up to the Blaze's goal.

After video review in the EIHL Situation Room, the play was eventually called offside some 10 seconds prior to the goal being scored. This is the first ice hockey event in the UK where offside is reviewable, meaning the decision was the first of its kind in the Elite League and across British ice hockey.

Check out how the play was reviewed:

Some minutes later, the Blaze challenge the Panther's fourth goal of the night but the on-ice call was upheld.

Earlier in the game, Coventry's goal was checked for a possible high-stick, but again the on-ice call was upheld.
