A game that could have gone either way ended with a 6-4 win for Coventry over Manchester on Sunday night at the Skydome.
Coventry raced into a 3-1 lead inside 16:30 as Janne Laakkonen, Charles Corcoran and Luke Ferrera all slotted past Matt Ginn, with Layne Ulmer's superb solo effort on 11 minutes momentarily putting them level. Mario Puskarich however found the net with ten second left in the opening period to make it 3-2 after 20 minutes.
A shorthanded breakaway effort from Tyson Fawcett tied the game at 29:11 for the only goal of the middle session.
Ross Venus' great move and finish put Coventry back ahead, shorthanded, at 45:38, only for Finlay Ulrick to score his first senior goal at 47:20. The Storm however had no response after Chris Pohlkamp's speculative shot found the top corner with 8:06 to go, and Laakkonen then got the final goal of the night into the empty net with 82 seconds remaining.
