The Glasgow Clan announced their seventeenth signing for 2021/2022 on Monday morning, confirming the arrival of defenceman Tim Shoup.
Shoup has played the last three seasons in the ECHL, the most recent pair of which at the Indy Fuel under former Edinburgh Capitals coach Doug Christiansen.
“My coach, Doug, knows all about Glasgow too, from his time coaching in the Elite League, plus knows Malcolm Cameron which helped get my foot in the door," said the 26-year-old. “He really helped me and my career going forward and he loved it over in the UK and told me to travel if I get the chance.
“Malcolm sold it really well and I know a couple of guys who played under him in the past. They couldn’t speak highly enough of him so that definitely swung it.”
In total, Shoup has played 118 ECHL games and notched 31 points. Prior to turning professional, he spent four seasons in the NCAA, playing more than 100 times for Dartmouth college with 25 points along the way.
"Doug recommended Tim very highly to me and is a guy who can play lots of minutes,” added Cameron. "Tim’s versatile and can play well against other team’s top offensive lines. He can play on the penalty kill, plays a good pass, and sees the ice very well. We’re very excited to add him to the Clan."
