CJ Motte recorded a 21-shot shutout to give the Coventry Blaze the first win of the 2-21/22 Premier Sports Elite League season.
In what was a tight game, the Blaze took the lead through Dane Gibson 5:15 into period two with the forward shooting past Shane Owen from the slot. Coventry had the better of the scoring chances into period three, although Fife were always dangerous on the counter-attack.
Ross Venus put the hosts two up at 1:44 into the third as David Broll's feed deflected in off his skate - only the second of 31 shots to get past Owen on the night.
The Flyers pushed for a way back into the game with an empty net inside the final minutes, but they found no way past Motte who stood tall to record his first shutout of the season, and earn his team a win after two cup defeats a week ago.
