It’s a huge afternoon in Sheffield today. Not only is it a Steelers vs. Devils clash, but the Steelers will also be raising their 2020 Premier Sports Challenge Cup banner AND it’s exclusively live on Premier Sports 2 – our first live TV game of the season.

Sheffield began their season last night in Manchester, hitting eight goals to get their season up and running with an 8-3 win. Cardiff meanwhile made their domestic debut yesterday evening at home to Guildford, almost a month after first hitting the ice in the Champions Hockey League, and were pushed all the way by the Flames. Brodie Reid eventually secured the Devils’ win in overtime.

We had a great crowd last week against Nottingham and we’re expecting another big one tonight. Cardiff are a good team but we’ve made a good start and want to continue it.” – Aaron Fox (Head Coach, Sheffield Steelers)

Obviously it’s a tough building to go to. They’re a very good team so it was important we got as much rest as we could after yesterday to be ready to go today.”- Jarrod Skalde (Head Coach, Cardiff Devils)

Today’s meeting is the 161st between the two sides in EIHL competition. The Steelers have won 44 of the 75 meetings in Sheffield, with the Devils taking 26 wins and two games ending in ties. Games between these sides over the years have averaged over six goals per game.
