Giants return home with shutout win

It was a fine homecoming for the Belfast Giants who celebrated their first home game in over 570 days with a two-goal shutout win against the Dundee Stars.

The Giants opened the scoring 4:16 into the opening period opens - a scramble in front of Adam Morrison's net with David Goodwin on the floor eventually allowed space for JJ Piccinich to wrist home from the slot.

That lead was doubled shortly before the end of the first period with Jordan Boucher picking out Lewis Hook, and the GB forward went top shelf for 2-0 with 17:38 played.

As the game pushed on, the Stars were grateful to Morrison for a string of fine saves to keep them within touching distance. At the other end, Tyler Beskorowany turned away all 25 shots he faced to earn his shutout.

An ill-advised penalty from Kyle Haas saw his night end early in the closing stages, but with nothing doing up front for the visitors it was the Giants who held on to the win.
