Luke Ferrara hit two goals as the Coventry Blaze recorded their first road win of the 2021/22 season with a Premier Sports Elite League win in Nottingham.

The Panthers took the lead in their second home game of the season through Mathieu Tousignant cleaning up a loose puck in front with 10:31 played. Ferrara tied the game with 2:08 left in the period as he made the most of space in the circle to make it all square at the first break.

Coventry took the lead 2:04 into period two through David Clements, but Tousignant was the man for the Panthers again to draw them level just over two minutes later. However, a bad giveaway from Kevin Carr allowed the Blaze to regain the lead with Janne Laakkonen the beneficiary at 28:33.

The Blaze took control of the game on an extended 5-on-3 while Simon Suoranta sat a double minor for a high stick, and Josh Tetlow was penalised for goalie interference. Evan Bloodof had a simple finish from Ferrara's feed 30 seconds into period three before the GB international then got his second of the game with 41:10 on the clock to make it 5-2. That was how the scores stayed, with CJ Motte stopping over 30 shots in the Blaze's win.
