Two second period goals were enough to give the Belfast Giants a shutout victory on the road in Kirkcaldy over the Fife Flyers on Friday night.
The first period was goalless despite the visitors outshooting their hosts 19-7, with both sides killing off a penalty each.
When the deadlock was broken it came on a delayed penalty. Bari McKenzie would have been called for hooking but Mark Cooper washed out that penalty with the first goal of the game at 31:13.
The Giants doubled their lead 36 seconds from the end of the period through Jeff Baum to go in two ahead at the break.
Having been outshot 12-4 in the second, period three was the only one during the game in which Fife were to create more chances than their opponents. However, Tyler Beskorowany stopped all 12 he faced in the third to record a 23-shot shutout and secure his team the two cup points.
