The Storm Shelter provided home comforts for Manchester yet again as the Storm secured their second Premier sports Elite League home win in a row thanks to an impressive opening 20 minutes.
Manchester powered through the early part of the opening period and stunned the Stars with three goals inside the first eight minutes. Finlay Ulrick's speculative throw on net crept through Adam Morrison's five-hole to opening the scoring 2:16 in, before two quick goals meant things got even better for the Storm.
With Linden Springer in the box and Storm shorthanded, a terrible giveaway from the Stars powerplay in their own zone led to Adam Brady firing home at 6:28. 46 seconds later Curtis Hamilton jumped on to a loose puck in the Dundee zone and shot past Morrison for the Storm's third and second shorthanded goal of the night. Stars Head Coach Omar Pacha called a timeout after that goal to rally his players.
An altercation between Ben Wilson and Kyle Haas saw both players given fighting majors, but Haas picked up an additional two-minute penalty for continuing after the linesmen had intervened. That came back to bite the Stars as Liam Morgan wristed home at 15:32 to give the Storm a 4-0 lead after 20 minutes.
Spencer Dorowicz got Dundee on the board just before the halfway mark of the game, but when Cam Critchlow struck on the powerplay with four minutes left in period two the game was as good as over.
Brady got his second of the night and his team's sixth 3:19 into the third, with Philippe Sanche pulling another goal back for Dundee at 51:53.
The result means that the Storm have now scored 11 goals in their two home league wins, while Dundee are winless in the league in four. Both teams return to action on Saturday.
