Devils deny Storm perfect week

Three goals in a 16-minute spell across two periods gave the Cardiff Devils a home shutout win against Manchester, denying the Storm their third win of the week.
Period one was goalless at Ice Arena Wales, which saw a sold-out crowd of 3100 pack in for the live game on Premier Sports - and they were treated to an early battle between Mark Louis and Linden Springer.
The deadlock was broken at 32:13 with the Devils on a man advantage as Springer sat for interference. With the puck on the blue line, Josh Batch patiently waited and shot through a screen to put the Devils ahead.
Manchester had a good chance to level when Sam Duggan was called for a cross-check four minutes later, but when Josh Batch flipped the puck into the neutral zone the Devils broke forward, and Brodie Reid faked before teeing up Josh Waller for the shorthanded finish to make it 2-0 at 37:48.
Cardiff's pressure was thwarted multiple times, often excellently, by Matt Ginn, but their resistance was broken for a third time when Brodie Reid fired home a loose puck for a powerplay goal 48:43.
That was the game so far as the scoreline was concerned with the Devils ending having outshot their opponents 41-25. Mac Carruth recorded his first shutout for the Devils.
