The Sheffield Steelers completed a clean sweep of the Manchester Storm in the Premier Sports Challenge cup Group C in front of over 6,000 fans at the Utilita Arena.
Boosted from their comeback victory 24 hours earlier, the Steelers took the lead after just 41 seconds from Martin Látal. However, the Storm hit back on the ten-minute mark through Curtis Hamilton to ensure the scores were tired after 20 minutes. Látal meanwhile would not ice again after the first period.
Sheffield started period two the quicker and were rewarded with two goals inside the opening seven minutes - Matias Sointu continued his good form since joining the team with a goal 49 seconds in, followed by Anthony DeLuca striking at 26:06.
Scott Simmonds' goal with 50 seconds left in the period gave Manchester some hope going into the third.
However, it wasn't to be for the Storm who were undone by Sointu again with nine minutes to play, and despite Dallas Ehradt pulling the score back to 4-3 with 2:50 left on the clock, the Steelers' Finnish forward found the empty net with 72 seconds to go to complete his hat trick.
