The Fife Flyers earned their place in the Premier Sports Challenge Cup Quarter-Finals with a dominant performance against local rivals Dundee Stars.
The first period was relatively even but ended with the hosts, ahead despite being outshot 17-11. Matt Carter gave the Flyers an early lead 2:34 into the game, poking home from the top of the crease after Craig Peacock had attempted to put the pick in from a tight angle.
A terrible defensive giveaway from the Stars set the Flyers up for their second of the night - Scott Jamieson was left with the simple task of teeing up James Anderson for the finish with 28:04 played.
Dundee ran into penalty trouble towards the end of the period and were made to pay when Erik Naslund ripped a shot in from the blueline with 15 seconds left in the period to put the Flyers three ahead.
Michael McNicholas put the home side's fourth on the board with a nice drag and shot off a pass from Greg chase at 43:13 to all but end the Stars' hopes of mounting a fightback. Imants Lesvocs rounded off the Flyers' win with 56 lefts to ensure they got the two points they needed to advance to the next round.
