Storm slide into top five with home win

Manchester Storm moved up to fifth in the Premier Sports Elite League table with a home win over Dundee, ending their six-game losing run but extending the Stars' streak to seven without a win.
It was a fast start at the Storm Shelter with two goals inside the opening eight minutes. Dundee took the lead when Charlie Combs got the shot away on a bouncing puck along the wing at 4:39.
Three minutes later, however, the hosts drew level with Adam Brady's low shot beating Adam Morrison from a tight angle.
Storm took the lead with only 29 seconds played in period two - straight off Wade Macleod's draw win, Dallas Ehrhardt set up Curtis Hamilton for the wrist shot from distance.
A major penalty on Connor Sills for boarding gave the Storm an opportunity to take a foothold in the game that they didn't let pass. First Jared Vanwormer poked the puck fomr from close range after Morrison spilled Adam Brady's shot at 28:46, and 90 seconds later Cam Critchlow let fly from the point to put Storm 4-1 up halfway through the game.
Further incidents took place in the middle period, ending with Tyson Fawcett, Linden Springer, Kyle Haas and Michael Poirier all sitting five-minute fighting majors.
Dundee rallied late to try and force a way back into the game, and came very close to earning a point. Dillon Lawrence brought them back to within two with just shy of 12 minutes to play, and when Spencer Dorowicz's goal at 58:40 stood after video review they had 80 seconds to tie it up. James Downie and the Storm, however, held strong and kept the points in Manchester.
