Fife secured their fourth straight home win with an impressive 6-2 victory over the Coventry Blaze.
After the long journey up to Kirkcaldy, Coventry started quickly and took the lead with just 3:24 on the clock – nice work behind the net from Ryan Penny finding Luke Ferrara out in front, who in turn set up Evan Bloodoff for the backdoor finish against his former team.
The Flyers tied things up when they won the puck on their own blue line leading to a 2-on-1, and the potent combination of Greg Chase set up Michael McNicholas for the tying goal at 15:10.
Bloodoff added his second of the game after some good early pressure from the Blaze at the beginning on period two. David Clements’ stretch pass set up the Blaze forward who beat Owen in close at 24:33.
However, things were tied up some three minutes later with the Flyers on a powerplay with Alex Forbes assessed a double minor for a high stick on Bari McKenzie. Quick passing led to Fife’s goal, which was fired in from the point by Imants Lescovs.
Just past the 30-minute mark, McNicholas reacted quickest to a rebound from a Matt Carter shot to put the Flyers into their first lead of the night, and four minutes later the latter finished off himself to put the hosts two up.
Fife went 5-2 up at 44:03 with a milestone goal - the team's 1,500th in the Premier Sports Elite League, scored by Carter with his second of the night; while Jacob Benson rounded off the win with the home side's sixth with 2:27 left to play.
