Sills suspended for one game for boarding
Stars forward receives suspension
Dundee were informed of this DOPS verdict at 10:42am on Sunday 14
On Saturday night in Manchester, Dundee Stars forward Connor Sills was assessed a Major and Game Misconduct Boarding penalty for this hit on Storm defensemen Joe Hazeldine, which caused him to be thrown dangerously into the boards.
As the video shows, Hazeldine is in control of the puck outside of the Storm bench, and dumps the puck into the Storm attacking zone. As he does so, Sills delivers a hard hit (extension), driving him dangerously into the boards with excessive force. This is boarding.
It is important to note that from the time Hazeldine collects the puck to the time the hit is made, Sills is aware of Hazeldine’s position on the ice. Sills has sufficient time to either adjust his course and deliver a legal hit, minimise the force of the hit or avoid the hit entirely. Instead, he accelerates into this hit, delivering it with excessive force driving his opponent dangerously into the boards.
To summarise:
- This is Boarding
- Sills has neither been fined or suspended during the 21/22 EIHL Season
Effective immediately, Dundee Stars #23 Connor Sills is fined and suspended for one game.
