The Cardiff Devils have placed forward Brodie Dupont on injured reserve. While this rules him out of action for the next 21 days, he may be out much longer term.
"Brodie has been playing hurt for a while and probably should have been sitting out recently, but he didn’t want to leave us short-staffed," explained Head Coach Jarrod Skalde. "He has an injury that needs to be looked at and could end his season. We’ve been waiting to get a new player in to give him the time off to get better."
Coming in as cover is forward Jake Coughler. He spent the 2020/21 season in the ECHL with the Orlando Solar Bears, notching 14 goals and 9 assists in 28 games. His season ended early due to a knee injury, but he is back to full-strength and ready to hit the ice this week with the Devils. The-25-year-old started the season with Odense Bulldogs in Denmark but left the team after five games.
"Jake is just starting his pro career but had a great season with Orlando before getting injured last season," added Skalde. "He skates well and can put the puck in the net, and I think he will slot in well with the team."
