The Belfast Giants made light work of Dundee as the Stars returned from COVID-19 protocol in their final game of 2021.
The opening period looked to be ending goalless but two goals in the final 110 seconds changed the course of the game. David Goodwin tipped Kevin Raine's shot at 18:10 on a delayed penalty, before JJ Piccinich ripped a wrist shot past Adam Morrison on the powerplay at 19:27 to give the Giants control of things.
The Stars stayed in the game until just past the midway point of period two, but were undone by three Giants goals in seven minutes. Tyler Soy banked one in off Morrison from behind the goal line to make it 3-0 just before the 33-minute mark, before Goodwin completed his hat trick with goals at 35:00 and 39:59.
Morrison let Jeff Baum's blueline effort slip through at 41:26 to make it six, before Soy grabbed his second of the game at 47:10. Sebastian Bengtsson spoiled Tyler Beskorowany's shutout with 2:14 to play, but the Giants ended the year with a big win nonetheless.
