The Nottingham Panthers have relieved Head Coach Tim Wallace of his duties, it was announced Wednesday morning.

Wallace took control of the team ahead of the 2019/20 season and led the Panthers to silver at the IIHF Continental Cup and to the 2021 Elite Series title. The team have struggled so far this season, currently sitting with 18 points from 19 games and disappointing special teams.

Mark Matheson and Stephen Lee will take up the coaching reigns on an interim basis starting with today’s practice & for the weekend’s games in Guildford (Saturday 8 January) and at home to Fife (Sunday 9 January) until the Panthers appoint a permanent Head Coach. Wallace is the first Head Coach to be fired this season.

Director of Hockey Gui Doucet explained: "We have had a run of extremely disappointing results and in a result-based business, the time had come to make a change.

"We are now looking to bring in a new Head Coach, which along with new signings and the return of key players from injury will get us back on track to be a competitive team, every single matchday."
