The Nottingham Panthers scored four unanswered goals in the final period at the Braehead Arena to seal a 5-2 road win against the Glasgow Clan on Friday night. The game was played in front of a crowd of 200 spectators due to Scottish COVID-19 regulations.
Scoreless after period one, the home side made the breakthrough just past the 31-minute mark on a 2-on-1 rush with Mathieu Roy finishing off Colton Yellow Horn's inch-perfect pass.
Panthers were level less than four minutes later as Christophe Boivin levelled on the powerplay on the third shooting attempt of the play. However, Guillaume Gauthier sneaking one past Kevin Carr with 2:03 left in the period put the hosts back ahead heading into the break.
Whatever interim Head Coach Mark Matheson said to his Panthers team in the intermission certainly worked, as his side scored four goals in the final period to turn the game around. Mathieu Tousiangant tied things at 44:40 on his own rebound after being set up by Ollie Betteridge behind the net. 28 seconds later Aaron Thow found Jeremy Welsh out front to slap home and put the Panthers into the lead.
Robbie Baillargeon made it four with a shot from a bad angle after a rebound off the back boards from Brady Norrish;'s shot at 53:24 before Matthew Myers scored on the empty net with 46 seconds left to round things off.
