Having gone 12 games without a win, the Fife Flyers celebrated two victories in as many nights with an overtime win in Nottingham on Sunday afternoon.
In a very tight game at the Motorpoint Arena, things were goalless through nearly 40 minutes with both Kevin Carr and most often Shane Owen forced into good saved when called upon. The deadlock was eventually broken with 3:37 left in period two with Matt Lane creating space in the offensive zone for Josh Tetlow to wrist-shot past Owen from the point.
The Panthers' lead held until 45:44. Matt carter beautifully scooped the puck over Carr's glove having been played through by Brandon Magee with Kevin Massy caught out of position.
The Panthers were handed a powerplay heading into the final 10 minutes when Chris Lawrence was ejected for boarding but failed to find a way past Owen, who ended the game with 63 saves.
For the second consecutive night the Panthers were taken to overtime by Scottish opposition, and yet again they ended up on the losing side. Having won the puck in the corner, JC Brassard coughed the puck up to Michael McNicholas who set up Greg Chase for the OT winner on the other side of the crease past a helpless Carr to win it for Fife.
