Stars win it in OT after Giants fight back

Dundee Stars gave up a two-goal lead at home to Belfast Giants on Friday night, but survived that setback to come through in overtime in front of a crowd of 1328 at the Dundee Ice Arena.

Belfast, playing their second road game of the week, were ahead after period one thanks to David Goodwin scoring 1:55 before the first intermission. The second belonged to the stars however, with three goals in under five minutes. Sebastian Bengtsson started and finished their scoring the period, with Toms Rutkis getting his third in as many games in between to put the hosts into a 3-1 lead.

JJ Piccinich halved the deficit 46 seconds into period three, with Cam Knight then tying things up just before the final ten minutes of regulation.

With no winner in 60 minutes, the game went to overtime. Adam Morrison pulled off an excellent double save from point-blank range to keep the Stars alive in OT, and that allowed Connor Sills to break up ice and beat Beskorowany to win it for the home side.
