Guildford Flames bounced back from a 5-1 home defeat to Fife on Saturday night by beating Coventry by the same scoreline at the Skydome on Sunday.
A couple of early minors on the Blaze put the Flames on to a 5-on-3 advantage which they didn't waste - John Dunbar with the opening goal 8:07 into the game. Jamal Watson made it two at 16:44, and then three 32 seconds before the end after the Blaze had killed off penalty but couldn't hold out on the other.
Things got heated in period two with penalties on both teams, but when Brett Ferguson made it 4-0 from close range the game was as good as over.
A chippy final period saw another spate of penalties called before a fine solo effort from Ryan Penny go the Blaze on the board. Kyle Locke ripped one past Jordan Hedley for the game's final goal with one second left on the clock.
The win lifted the Flames back into fifth ahead of the two sides meeting on Wednesday in Guildford.
