Belfast Giants will look to stay second in the Premier Sports Elite League, and keep up pressure on leaders Sheffield, when they take on basement side Fife Flyers at the SSE Arena.
The Giants moved into second last week on a four-game road trip where they picked up seven points. They trail the Steelers by three, but having played one game more and have not lost in regulation since 22 January - a nine-game streak. Fife meanwhile have clawed their way back to seven points adrift with an excellent recent run. The Flyers have not lost in regulation for four games, and have collected seven of the last eight points on offer.
Belfast boast the league’s third-best powerplay at 22.56%, with Fife coming in at #7 overall on 16.67%. In terms of penalty kills, the Giants are again top three on 83.61% while the Flyers have the league’s worst at just 70.79%. Despite giving up an average of 3.38 goals per game, Flyers’ Shane Owen is still the league’s sixth-best goalie for save percentages at 91.95% of shots saved.
The Giants have won all four meetings on home ice between the sides this year by a combined score of 17-5. Fife’s last road win in Belfast came in September 2018.
