Dundee Stars secured an important road win in Fife to help their playoff push, beating the Flyers 4-1 in Kirkcaldy.
The visitors drew first blood with a goal at 7:26 through Sebastian Bengtsson who converted from the slot after a good set up pass from Timi Lahtinen. With just shy of 14 minutes on the clock. Bengtsson then set up Charlie Combs in front for a powerplay goal that beat Shane Owen tight to the post. Prior to doubling their lead, Dundee had also had a goal washed out for the net being dislodged before the puck crossed the line.
Combs got the lone goal of period three which put the Stars into a three-goal lead. Again on the powerplay, this time the Stars' forward was given too much time in front of Owen to take the puck and deke around the Flyers' goalie for a nice finish.
former Star Matt Carter got the Flyers on the board with 8:46 left to play with a smart finish to beat ex-Flyer Adam Morrison after Craig Peacock broke forward. However, Gabriel Desjardins' first goal in over two months gave the Stars the insurance marker they needed with 2:28 to play.
The win lifted the Stars to seventh on 31 points from 33 games. Fife, with 18 games left to play, are nine points off the playoff places.
