Panthers fight back against Storm

Nottingham Panthers got their first win of the week serving revenge for Saturday night with a 5-2 victory over Manchester Storm at the Motorpoint Arena.

In a reverse of how the meeting between these sides had gone the night before, Manchester raced into a two-goal lead in just over 18 minutes. Linden Springer scored his fifth goal of the season, and third in Nottingham, when he patiently picked his spot to wrist past Kevin Carr at 6:08. The visitors rang one off Carr's post before doubling their lead at 18:02 on the powerplay through Dallas Ehrhardt.

Storm looked to be heading into the first intermission with a two-goal cushion but the Panthers were on the board with 37 seconds left in the period through Massimo Carozza on a loose puck in front. 

Carr ensured the Panthers stayed only one behind with a quick save on Jared Vanwormer who went through 1-on-0 off the opening faceoff. After that let-off, the hosts began to put more chances together and were deservedly level at 29:24 through Brady Norrish. Jason Bacashihua did well to keep the Storm level as the period ticked down.

Unlike the previous evening, it was the home side that then scored the next goal. With Vanwormer serving a tripping minor, Carozza let a shot go from the point through traffic that sailed through into the net to put the Panthers ahead at 47:03. Storm tried to force their way back to equalising but wen't able to call Carr into any big saves as the game ticked down. Ollie Betteridge found the empty net from how own zone with 1:20 to play, and then Matthew Myers scored the Panthers' fifth into the open cage with 60 seconds remaining.
