Sheffield Steelers have extended the contracts of Head Coach Aaron Fox, and Assistant Carter-Beston Will, for a further three seasons.
The duo won the Premier Sports Challenge Cup in their first year with the Steelers before COVID-19 cut the season short, and this season are very much in the title race with 10 games to go.
"On Tuesday we talked about stability with the arena and our contract with them, and today we are talking about on-ice stability with Aaron and Carter in charge," said owner Tony Smith. "I’ve been impressed with them since the day they arrived here, their work ethic is second to none and their ability to build competitive and exciting teams is there for us all to see.
"The working relationship between a coach and an owner is vital and I have found Aaron to be able to communicate extremely well with me and my management team. He understands both the business of ice hockey and the game itself. He knows what we need as a business to move forward and we in turn have tried to help him by providing the tools he needs to be competitive and to win.
Fox added: "When I joined the Steelers I wanted an opportunity to ompete and win. Tony and everyone at the club have worked hard to ensure that we have everything that a coaching staff could ask for here to deliver success. We were successful in our first year with that Challenge Cup win and are still fighting in late March for a league title this year.
It wasn’t a tough decision to return as both Carter and I want to stay and build something special here. My family and I are settled in Sheffield all year round and we all feel a real part of the Steelers community. We have seen the growth at the club in terms of stability and attendances with this building attracting more fans week on week.
Despite the adversity we have faced this year with injuries, we have continued to work hard and have an exciting end to this season ahead of us, and now we know we will have another three years minimum to look forward to as well.”
